Pratical information and contacts

The conference will take place in two separate locations, in Cayenne and in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni:

- November 7 and 8: sessions will be held in Cayenne at the Guyana University Campus Troubiran. - The bus will be waiting for participants on Wednesday November, 7th at 7.45am in front of Hotel Amazonia, Cayenne downtown.

-November 9:  conference sessions will take place at the Camp de la Transportation in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. After the sessions, a guided tour is offered (an urban stroll or canoe excursion)

Meals, bus transportations (to Cayenne and the round-trip from Cayenne to Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni) and the guided visits in Saint Laurent-du-Maroni on Friday November 9 must be covered by the participants themselves.   

It is a mandatory requirement for participants, even those who will not present a paper, to register on the Website (registration Tab). Please register by October 29 so as to facilitate the organization

Yellow fever vaccine is required

The vaccination should be made at least 10 days before the entry into the Guyana territory

The vaccination certificate is to be presented during the Check-in process (the flight to Guyane). You will also need a valid ID and your vaccination certificate for your travels outside Cayene (Checkpoints on the way to Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni).

Optional guided tours in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni on Friday November 9 from 2pm to 5pm

Urban stroll

This guided stroll through Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni’s various neighbourhoods is organised by l’EPFAG (Etablissement Public Foncier et d’Aménagement de la Guyane). It’s an opportunity for participants to discover the vast diversity of urban landscapes, the culturally diverse populations residing in this cross-border city, as well as the challenges in welcoming and planning faced by the city. 

Canoe excursion on the Maroni River

Number of particpants : 17 max

Canoe excursion along Saint-Laurent exploration of the Crique Balaté, station stop at Lépreux Island, exploration of the Amerindian village Biguiston (handicraft Kalina), return to Saint-Laurent with a stop at Portal Island.

Stops, except the Village of Biguiston, are given on an indicatibe basis, and depend on the constraints of the time. The conference organizers will provide you with the best possible service to explore of the way of life of populations living near the River, the manufacturing of the dugout canoes, the couac or cassava (manioc), throughout the excursion.

3. Accommodations

A bus is made available to participants on a fixed schedule to drive them from Hôtel Amazonia to the city of Cayenne and to the campus (and from the campus to the restaurant on Wednesday 7 in the evening). Particpants who will be staying at Hotel Amazonia can take the shuttle bus in front the hotel or get to the University on their own.  

To facilitate the logistics, the Organization committee invites you to book your hotel room for the nights Tuesday 6 (if need be), Wednesday 7 and Friday 9 to the following locations:

20 rooms are reserved for the conference. The following cost is proposed if you book before october 29, on behalf of CFVG Conference and giving the name of the referent person (Mme Anne PENE-ANNETTE apannette@gmail.com) :

SINGLE: 91€/night TTC (room, breakfasts and resort fee included)

DOUBLE or TWIN: 102€/night TTC (room, breakfasts and stay tax included).

For the night of Thursday November 8 in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, the organizing committee invites you to book, preferably, by october 20

 Other hotels are located in Cayenne and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, without guarantee of availability.

The trip expenses to reach the locations of the conference or the meeting points from your hotels are not supported by the organizing committee.
